The Utility Technician role bridges the gap between traditional linemen, electricians, and data technicians. Multi-skilled field technicians operate across overhead, underground, fiber optic, electrical, and renewable energy systems.

Job Expectations
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential for overtime
- Work Environments: Residential, commercial, and industrial buildings; renewable energy sites; roadside work sites
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to job sites within New York and Pennsylvania
- Safety Standards: Adherence to all company and OSHA safety regulations is mandatory
- Growth Mindset: Success depends on eagerness to learn, openness to feedback, and readiness to adapt
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand or walk for 8+ hours, work at heights 50ft+, work in confined spaces
Types of Work
- Utility Interconnection: Medium-voltage interconnections, switchgear installation, new service connections
- Line Construction: Private pole lines, overhead and underground distribution systems
- Electrical Projects: Conduit systems, panel installations, service upgrades, troubleshooting
- Fiber Optic Projects: Aerial and underground cable installation, splicing, OTDR testing
- Renewable Energy: Solar farm electrical work, battery storage, medium-voltage terminations
- O&M Programs: Scheduled inspections, emergency repairs, warranty service
- Storm Restoration: Emergency pole and line restoration, service reconnections
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years experience in electrical utility, telecommunications, construction, or related fields
- Valid driver's license
- Strong understanding of safety standards
- Effective communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or 30
- Electrical License
- Fiber optic certification (FOA CFOT or equivalent)
- Medium-voltage splicing/termination certifications
- Experience in solar installations or high-voltage systems
- Project management experience
