Lineman (Power)
Utility Power Binghamton, NY Full-time
$30–$50/hr
About the Role
Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines, transformers, and related equipment for municipal and private utility clients across New York and Pennsylvania.
Job Expectations
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential for overtime
- Work Environment: Outdoor locations, elevated heights, and inclement weather conditions; may require working in rural or remote areas
- Travel Requirements: Regular travel to job sites within NY and PA; often requiring overnight stays
- Safety Standards: Strict adherence to all company and OSHA safety regulations is mandatory
- Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, work at heights, work in all seasons and weather conditions
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground power lines, transformers, and related equipment
- Diagnose and repair issues in electrical systems including power outages, line breaks, and equipment failures
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards
- Respond to emergency calls for power outages or line damage under adverse weather conditions
- Conduct regular inspections of power lines and equipment
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed using digital documentation tools
- Participate in ongoing training and development
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a lineman or similar role in the power industry
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
- Digger Operator Certificate
- OSHA 10
- Pole Top / Bucket Rescue certification
- Climbing Certified
Desired Qualifications
- First Aid/CPR
- OSHA 30
- Journeyman Lineman Certification
- Crane Certification
- Cable Splicing and Termination Experience
- Leadership experience overseeing line construction or maintenance projects
