Fiber Splicer

About the Role

Perform fusion splicing of fiber optic cables for telecom providers and ISPs across New York and Pennsylvania. Ensure connections are accurate, clean, and meet industry standards.

Job Expectations

• Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with potential for overtime
• Work Environment: Various environments including outdoor locations, elevated heights, and inclement weather conditions
• Travel Requirements: Regular travel to job sites within NY and PA; often requiring overnight stays
• Safety Standards: Strict adherence to company safety protocols and OSHA regulations
• Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds, work at heights, work in all seasons and weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion splicing of fiber optic cables ensuring accuracy and industry standards
• Diagnose and resolve issues with fiber optic networks including identifying faults in splices or damaged cables
• Use OTDR, power meters, and other testing equipment to verify splice integrity and performance
• Maintain detailed records of all splicing activities including splice diagrams and test results
• Adhere to all safety protocols including proper handling of fiber optic cables and equipment
• Regularly inspect and maintain splicing equipment
• Coordinate with linemen, project managers, and other team members
• Respond to urgent repair requests including splicing damaged fibers in the field
